HYDERABAD, April 9: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat has said proper training of teachers will help improve the standard of education.

He was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of the Teachers Training Study Technology Workshop at the Government Elementary College for Men here on Wednesday.

He said the Sindh government was making efforts to transform the education system on modern lines.

He said teachers would not be appointed without training.

Mr Marwat regretted the standard of education was declining despite increasing budgetary allocations for education.

He congratulated the participants of the course and said the target of the Provincial Institute of Teachers Education was to provide training in latest educational techniques to every teacher.

Speaking on the occasion, Farida Abbasi Bulbrook, the UK-based education consultant, whose team conducted the training course, said the purpose of the course was to identify causes as to way children kept away from schools.

Earlier, the education minister visited Tando Mohammad Khan.

Talking to newsmen at the local press club, he said the ban on employment would soon be lifted and appointments would be made on merit basis.

He deplored educational institutions were not being run properly.

The minister also paid a surprise visit to the Girls Primary School, Saeedpur Takar.

He suspended the headmistress and teachers who were absent from the school and ordered to withhold their salaries.
