SIALKOT, April 8: The Kotwali police have registered a murder case against four police officials, including the Hajipura SHO, for torturing to death a proclaimed offender during investigation.

According to FIR, Hajipura SHO sub-inspector Shafqat Mahmood, head-constable Husain Bakhsh and constables Javaid and Shahid took Saleem to the Kotwali police station and subjected him to severe torture. When he died from torture, the four policemen escaped from the scene.

The autopsy of Saleem was conducted by a medical board at the Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital on Tuesday. However, the medical board did not issue the details of the post-mortem report.

Meanwhile, the resident judicial magistrate has sent SHO Shafqat Mahmood to Gujranwala central jail.

Case: Additional District and Sessions Judge Najamul Hasan has ordered the Civil Lines police to register a case against Nekapura constables Mohammad Boota and Saleem Khan, who had allegedly tortured a citizen named Abdul Ghafoor in illegal custody.
