ISLAMABAD, April 7: Former Punjab governor Khawaja Tariq Rahim is likely to be appointed as special assistant to the prime minister on political affairs, sources told Dawn on Monday.

However, the army is reportedly not clearing the candidature of Mr Rahim as a case is registered against him with National Accountability Bureau, the sources said.

They said Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali had desired to appoint Mr Rahim as his special assistant on political affairs due to his close association with him.
