RAWALPINDI, Dec 4: Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Ms Shaheen Atiqur Rehman has said here Tuesday that the government is taking all necessary steps for the rehabilitation of people affected by the floods in Leh drain.

She was speaking at a gathering in E-Block, Satellite Town, and Union Council Phagwari while giving away cheques for assistance to the affected people here Tuesday.

She said the Punjab government had distributed Rs 10 million among 4,500 affected people of Lah.

Ms Shaheen pledged the government would provide all possible assistance to the affected people and would provide an amount of Rs 5 million to carry out the rehabilitation work.

She lauded the work of social welfare agencies to provide maximum relief work for the flood affected people of Leh for doing maximum relief work. She also had a word of praise for the task performed by Bait-ul-Mal for the flood affected people.

Speaking on this occasion, District Nazim Rawalpindi Raja Tariq Kiyani said that it was not possible for the government alone to make up all the losses suffered by the people. However, he said that the government had done its maximum efforts to help the people to the maximum extent.
