Man kills teenage daughter

KHAIRPUR, April 3: A teenaged girl was killed by her father on the pretext of Karo-kari in the Fateh Ali Chandio village, Kingri taluka, on Wednesday.

The girl killed was identified as Tahmeeza Khatoon, 15.

The Ahmadpur police have registered a case and arrested the accused, Azizullah Chandio.

hesco: Hesco chief Tariq Arshad has said the company is facing 27.7 per cent losses.

Talking to newsmen at the district Nazim’s office here on Thursday, he said 27 officers among 300 Hesco employees, who were responsible for the losses, had been suspended.

Mr Arshad said the company had replaced high-tension lines to cover line losses and introduced one-point system to ensure regular power supply. The company had also installed seven grid stations, he added.

Seeking the cooperation of area Nazims and people in completing the one-point system, the Hesco chief regretted consumers attacked Hesco employees while they were working on the system in Khajoor Mandi, Sukkur, on Thursday.

About the village electrification programme, Mr Arshad said more than 50 villages in the Khairpur district had been recently electrified.
