NEW DELHI, April 2: The head of Jammu and Kashmir’s Hizbul Mujahideen group was killed by Indian security forces on Wednesday evening, news reports quoted the region’s police chief as saying.

The reports said that Ghulam Hassan Khan also known as Saif-ul-Islam was killed near the Pohru locality on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Inspector General of Police for Kashmir Range K. Rajendra said the killing of Khan was a major boost to India’s anti-militancy operations in the disputed region.
