Boy dies of burn injuries

RAWALPINDI, April 2: A boy was killed after receiving serious burn injuries in the jurisdiction of Saddar Baruni police on Wednesday, police said.

Nasir Hussain 16, was caught in the fire when he lit the oven (Tandoor) at his house. On hearing screams, his father and other family members rushed to his rescue and shifted him to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where he expired after half an hour.

Badar Zaman, the father of the deceased, in his statement recorded with the Saddar Baruni police said his son lit the Tandoor when a ball of fire burnt him seriously.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old girl received a bullet in her body when the pistol of her brother accidentally went off at Sihala on Wednesday.

Police said Uzma Shaheen’s brother was cleaning his pistol when it went off. The injured girl was rushed to Pims where her condition was stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, three robbers raided a double-storeyed house at Misrial road on Wednesday and managed to escape after looting sizable cash, electronic goods and golden jewellry, police said.

Mohsin Malik, lodged a complaint with the Westridge police that some robbers entered his house in his absence and held his wife and daughters at gunpoint. They snatched Rs600,000, defence certificates, 18 tolas of gold ornaments and electronic goods. After ransacking Mohsin’s house, the robbers targeted Tariq’s family living on the ground floor. They held Tariq’s family at gunpoint and also snatched cash and gold jewellry and escaped.
