ORAKZAI AGENCY, Dec 3: One person was shot dead in the Chappar Mashti area of Orakzai Agency on Monday.

In another incident at the Kohati Darra of the agency, the locals burnt down the house of one Abdullah, who had killed his cousin Gul Bahadar, and fined him Rs2 million.

Around 18 sub-tribes of the agency have formed a local jirga of elders which has been empowered to decide criminal cases like murder or attempt to murder over past enmity.

The house of Abdullah was set ablaze after the jirga and the local Taliban Tehrik were convinced that he had murdered Gul Bahadar. The killer was also fined.
