ISLAMABAD, April 2: The first meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue was held here on Wednesday to discuss the working of Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL).

The committee chairman, Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema, presided over the meeting held at the Parliament House.

The committee discussed the proposed amendment in section 7 of the ADBP (re-organisation and conversion) Ordinance, 2002 (LX of 2002).

It was decided that the committee should first be given a comprehensive presentation on the restructuring of the bank which had recently been undertaken and the positive after affects of the new policies.

The meeting which was also attended by the adviser to prime minister on finance and economic affairs, Shaukat Aziz, expressed concern on various issues relating to repayment of loans and agreed that the ZTBL had to be made a viable financial institution for the benefit of the farming community.

The adviser on fiance briefed the committee on the need of considering for inclusion of clause 7.
