PESHAWAR, April 2: Deputy Speaker of the NWFP Assembly Ikramullah Shahid has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Mardan district and highhandedness of the local police.

He condemned the brutal murder of three people in the jurisdiction of Hoti Police Station (Mardan) and said that the provincial government would take action to bring the murderers to justice.

Unidentified criminals strangulated three people in Hoti a few days ago and escaped.

Talking to a delegation of the Mardan Press Club here in Peshawar on Wednesday he said that it was the prime responsibility of the government to provide security of life and property to every citizen and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) government would fulfil its responsibilities.

He said the government would not tolerate any lethargy in maintaining law and order situation.

He assured the delegation that the government would take measures to eradicate lawlessness from the area.
