SHIKARPUR, April 2: Following a row between the Hesco and the Shikarpur Taluka municipal administration over payment of dues, Hesco disconnected power supply to drainage and water supply pumping stations.

The power disconnection has created difficulties in disposing of sewage water and supplying drinking water to different areas of the taluka. Streets and roads have been submerged by dirty water.

According to Hesco authorities, power supply to drainage and water supply pumping stations was disconnected for non-payment of bills amounting to Rs18.6 million.

Taluka Nazim Agha Amjadullah said Rs860 million was outstanding against Hesco on account of rent and other taxes.

He regretted that despite the government’s instruction Hesco officials disconnected electricity supply to services related to civic amenities.

CASE: The New Faujdari police here on Wednesday registered a case against three persons for cheating people.

The accused, Roshan Ali Abro, Koro and Deedar Dakhan, were involved in taking money from people by promising them jobs in police.
