HYDERABAD, Dec 3: Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) authorities have taken a serious notice of the theft of electricity during holding night cricket matches.

A spokesman of the company said that this theft was causing great inconvenience to the people in the holy month of Ramazan.

He said that the company was made to suffer huge losses and added that it was morally wrong to steal electricity during the holy month beside being illegal.

Hesco authorities have appealed to councillors and Nazims to take notice of the matter and stop the open theft of electricity in the name of cricket matches.

The company has warned that in order to protect sensitive equipment and avoid losses, Hesco will be compelled to close the feeders of those areas where night cricket matches were being played besides taking legal against those persons who were stealing electricity.

Meanwhile Hesco announced here on Monday that under the development programme, the work on 132 KV grid station in Sultanabad had been completed and added that this will go a long way in catering to the increasing requirements of electricity and reducing complaints about loadshedding and low voltage in Mirpurkhas operation division.

A Hesco spokesman said that with the commissioning of Sultanabad grid station the pressure on the transformers will also be reduced.

He said that work on 132 KV grid station, Qasimabad, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Rasoolabad and installation of new transformers was also going full speed.

He said that with the installation of new transformer at Qasimabad grid station, the power supply will increase form 39 MW to 52 MW, at Khairpur Nathan Shah from 13 MW to 26 MW and at Rasoolabad the power supply will increase from six MW to 19 MW.
