DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 1: The local people are facing problems in getting new gas connections.

People complained of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) staff’s attitude.

One of the applicants who seeks new connection told this scribe that he had submitted application about a month ago but still he could not get the connection.

Another applicant alleged that those who greased the palms of the SNGPL employees could get the connection without any delay.

When contacted, a senior SNGPL official said there was shortage of necessary material used in installation of connection as a result of which provision of new connections was being delayed.

JOURNALISTS RALLY: Local journalists took out a procession to express solidarity with the Iraqi people and to condemn the invasion of Iraq by the US-led forces on Tuesday.

Arranged by the newly-elected office-bearers of the press club and Anjuman-i-Sahafiyan, the procession was taken out from the club. The participants were carrying banners inscribed with anti-US slogans.

They demanded that the international community should play its role to stop American aggression against Iraq.
