KARACHI, April 1: Industries and Production Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi said on Tuesday land had been reserved in all export processing zones (EPZs) for Chinese investors.

Talking to investors during his visit to the Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), the minister said Chines investors wanted to invest in a big way and land had been reserved for them in the EPZs.

He underlined the need for providing more incentives to investors at the EPZs, including reduced rates of land and economical utilities rates, to attract more investment in special zones.

Meanwhile, addressing the management, Liaquat Jatoi asked the Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (PMTF) to purchase new machinery by June 2003 to make it more competitive in the market.

The minister said induction of new machinery will also make the plant self-sufficient and self-dependent. He was of the view that the PMTF had potential for growth and capability to improve its profitability and bring in more modifications in its production.

He asked the PMTF management to bring fast track development and progress by opening more business opportunities at the plant.—APP
