KARACHI, March 30: Advisor to Prime Minister, Nelofer Bakhtiar, has said that the government will soon increase the number of police stations for women, and Sindh will have four more stations.

She disclosed this during a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Mohammed Khan Mahar, here on Sunday at the chief minister’s house.

The advisor said that the federal government would soon formally approach the Sindh government to decide about the cities where the new police stations would be set up for women.

She said that the ministry for the development of women had also decided to open training and welfare centres for women in various cities of the province.

She further said that plans were under way to hold open katcheries where women’s grievances would be heard by officials.

“First such ‘Katchery’ will be held at Quetta on April 2, and soon another will be organized in Lyari.

The advisor was accompanied by women delegates belonging to the PML(Q).

The chief minister assured the delegates that women would also be included in various committees formed by the government of Sindh.

He said that the present government wanted to resolve the problems of women on priority basis, and pointed out that Sindh was the only province where the provincial cabinet included a woman, the Sindh Assembly’s deputy speaker and the secretary information were also women.—APP/PPI
