Punjab village census

LAHORE, March 28: The seventh five-yearly village census will be conducted in the Punjab from April to June.

Similarly, the livestock census will be conducted in 2006 and the agriculture census in 2010.

This was stated at a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa here at the Civil Secretariat.

The village census will be conducted by revenue staff including patwaris, and will cover means of irrigation, one-window agriculture loans, cottage industry and agriculture machinery. Information about water supply, drainage, electricity and educational facilities would also be collected.

Moreover, the staff would collect details of the distance of facilities like railway stations, post offices, markets, hospitals, telephone offices and education institutions from centre of villages.
