Published March 29, 2003

KARACHI, March 28: To eliminate major causes of frequent fatal accidents, particularly during the peak hours, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, under section 144 CrPC, has prohibited movements of heavy vehicles within the limits of the City District Government.

Heavy traffic within the city will not be allowed from 7am to 1am and again from 4pm to 8pm.

The order shall remain enforced with immediate effect for a period of seven days provided withdrawn or modified earlier.

ARTS COUNCIL: The City Nazim visited the Arts Council of Pakistan on Friday.

Vice President Khushbakht Shujaat apprised the Nazim of the problems being faced by the organization and remarked that the institution was distinct from other arts councils in the country.

The Nazim said the resources of the city government are limited and it has to cater to the requirements of other social organizations. However, he would endeavour to restore the grant of the Arts Council.—PPI
