PESHAWAR, March 28: The NWFP chapter of Pakistan Flour Mills Association has welcomed enhancement in daily wheat quota by 30 bags a day, saying the step would boost performance of mills.

Haji Niaz Mohammad, chairman of the NWFP chapter of the association, appreciated the decision of exempting flour millers from conditions like separation of husk and fine wheat flour from the wheat.

He hailed NWFP Food Minister Fazle Rabbani’s assurance at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries to allow flour mill owners to purchase wheat directly from Punjab, allotment of space at government-owned silos to stock the grain and provision of bank loans on a minimum mark-up.

He welcomed steps being taken by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government for the industry’s growth. Once it was revived, a lot of people who had lost their jobs would regain employment and the citizens would get quality wheat flour, he said.
