KARACHI, March 7 Punjab University and Islamia University Bahawalpur clinched their respective semi-finals on Wednesday to qualify for the Pakistan Inter-university Cricket Championship final.

In the first semi-final, Punjab University notched up an exciting 25-run victory over hosts NED University at the KCCA Stadium.

Ali Afzal took four wickets for 30 and Mohammad Afzal grabbed three for 31 to bowl their team into the final.

Earlier batting first, Punjab University made 167 all out in 44.1 overs. Zaman Jamil got 32 and Naeem Arshad 31.

The NED, in reply, were bundled out for 142 in 41 overs. Rehan Hakim top-scored with 29 and Shoaib-ur-Rehman made 28.

In the other semi-final, Islamia University (Bahawalpur) inflicted a seven-wicket defeat on Peshawar University. Mohammad Kashif captured three wickets for 29 for the winners.

Fayyaz-ul-Hasan and Moinuddin both finished at unbeaten 25 to guide their team to an easy win.
