ON BOARD SPECIAL PLANE, March 26: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Wednesday said that Pakistan and China were look-ing forward to send humanitarian assistance to Iraq to mitigate the sufferings of the Iraqi people.

Talking to journalists on board the plane on his way back home, the prime minister said China and Pakistan had identity of views on Iraq.

“While expressing deep concern over the war in Iraq, both the countries underlined that military action against Iraq should not prolong; the sovereignty and its territorial integrity should be preserved; and the grave humanitarian crisis unfolding in and around Iraq should be addressed by the international community”, Mr Jamali said.

He said they also agreed about the centrality of United Nations and the need for the United Nations Security Council to play its rightful role in maintaining international peace and security. “We also stressed that the Iraq issue must quickly be brought back to the diplomatic track.”—APP
