Students block road

LANDI KOTAL, March 26: The students of the Government Degree College Landi Kotal blocked the Peshawar-Torkham Highway for traffic at Charwazgai to protest the shortage of teaching staff and other facilities at the college here on Wednesday.

The students said that the government had sanctioned Rs2.5 million for the maintenance of the college, but the administration did not utilize it, which resulted in the multiplication of problems.

They were also critical of the college administration’s performance and said that when the college was established in 1975, it had 30 teachers, but the number teachers reduced to only 16 after the lapse of 28 years.

The students said that Rs800,000 was sanctioned for tube well in the college amount had not been utilized. Likewise, the amount released for the purchase of computers also went un-utilized, they said.
