KHAIRPUR, Oct 4 Sohrab Faqeer, a famous exponent of Sufi songs, has been admitted to a private hospital in Sukkur.
He was taken to the hospital on Sunday morning after he suffered an attack of asthma and other complications.
He was being treated by doctors in his hometown of Talpur Wada for about a week, but his condition deteriorated to the extent that he was not able to speak on Sunday morning.
Rajib Faqeer, his son, told this reporter that the singer was not able to speak or recognise anyone.
He said he had never appealed to the Sindh government or the Department of Culture and Tourism for help in getting treatment for his father.
Asked why he did not take the singer to Karachi for treatment, Rajib Faqeer said that for Sufi singers and the people of rural areas, Karachi was like a foreign country.
