SAHIWAL, March 17: Two under-trial prisoners were shot dead on Monday by five gunmen over an old enmity on Noorshah-Faisalabad Road.

Ghulam Abbas and Qutab Ali had killed two women Mst Salma and Fariha, the relatives of Rajab Ali, over a piece of land dispute some two years back. Later, police arrested both the accused and the case was proceeded in the court of Additional District and Session Judge, Sahiwal. On Monday, Abbas and Qutab Ali were standing at a bus stop for going to court when Rajab Ali, his brother Farzand Ali and their three accomplices came there and opened fire on them. Consequently, both the under-trial prisoners died on the spot. The police took the bodies in its possession.

Meanwhile, villagers staged a protest against the double murder and blocked the Noorshah-Faisalabad road for around an hour.

The police have registered a case.
