Debt office formed to repay loan

ISLAMABAD, March 17: State Bank Governor Dr Ishrat Hussain on Monday said the government had formulated a debt strategy and formed a debt office headed by Dr Ashfaq Hassan Khan for the repayment of non-concessional multilateral loans of about $5 billion.

He was talking to newsmen after attending a seminar on “Pro Poor Growth Policies”, jointly organized by Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) here.

He said the government had already established a debt management office headed by Dr Ashfaq Hassan Khan and the office has started working strategy for the repayment of non-concessional debt of the IMF, the ADB and the World Bank.—APP
