LAHORE Shahzain Bugti, the Jamhoori Watan Party leader who is a grandson of slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, has announced postponement of his long march from Aug 28 to Sept 4.

At a press conference here on Thursday, he claimed that the step had been taken after consulting PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

He said the PML-N leader assured him that he (Nawaz) would talk to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for clearing all obstacles in the way of the proposed march. The prime minister will be asked to pull out all security forces from Dera Bugti, he quoted the former prime minister as saying.

He said the long march would start from Minar-i-Pakistan and the participants would reach Dera Bugti en route Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kashmore and Sui. At least 200,000 Bugtis displaced from their area since launch of the army operation there would join the marchers, he claimed.

He said except the PML-Q, the leaders and workers of all other parties had been invited to join the march. He said MQM chief Altaf Husain had also talked to him and assured his full support for the cause. On the occasion, with the help of a projector a movie was also shown to the media in which security personnel accompanied by the Balochistan home minister were shelling and occupying the citadel-like family house of Nawab Bugti four months after the murder of the Baloch leader.
