MOST of us believe that loadshedding at present is the result of the government's mismanagement, though in reality this is not so. All stakeholders, including consumers, employees and the government, are equally involved and responsible.

As inflation and unemployment is increasing day by day, so are the prices of electricity. Consumers are unable to afford the high cost of electricity and due to that they have adopted an alternative way giving monthly bribe to employees of electricity-supplying companies.

As employees are also unable to run their households with the little amount they earn, they are collecting monthlies in the thousands. Instead of this money going to the government, it is going into the pockets of the employees.

Owing to this the loadshedding is happening and it is increasing day by day. The government is unable to bear the huge costs but now is time the government realised and tried to solve the loadshedding problem as quickly as possible by holding talks with employees and with consumers.

The government must try to increase the salaries of the employees and try to curtail the theft of illegal electricity. In this way we may avoid the so-called loadshedding.

Loadshedding is a very serious problem in Karachi. It leads to many other problems, such as shopkeeping, construction and household chores related to electricity are becoming difficult to carry out.

Above all, students find it extremely difficult to study in the absence of power supply. In universities students are unable to carry out their work in laboratories.

Residents of some of the congested areas such as Korangi, Malir and Shah Faisal Colony have to bear loadshedding for more than 10 hours.

Ii's time the authorities took notice of the situation and did the needful.

We the residents of Gulistan-i-Johar, Gulzar hijri are badly suffering from the breakdown of electricity without any schedule.

Our country has enough raw materials (coal, fuel, wind energy, solar energy, water etc.) to produce electricity in large amounts, but all it needs is proper guidance and leadership for development in the field of electrical energy production.

We hope that with this letter, the higher authorities will take notice of our problems and work towards the betterment of power production in the country.

If nothing more, they could at least provide us with a timetable for load shedding. I hope that is not asking too much.
