ISLAMABAD, March 13: More than 6,000 rent cases are pending in different courts of Islamabad due to which workload on the judiciary is increasing day by day.
Two years back, the government had promulgated the Rent Control Ordinance in Islamabad and promised that two rent controllers would be appointed in the district courts, who would hear the cases related to the issue.
However, no rent controller has been appointed so far and the cases are being distributed among civil judges for hearing.
In the Rent Control Ordinance, the government gave the assurance that the rent cases would be disposed of within six months, but, thousands of cases have been pending since a long.
The district judiciary has raised the issue of shortage of judges and appointment of rent controller besides new judges with the government but so far no heed was paid to this issue.
