RAWALPINDI, March 13: Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has planned to launch a seven-day nation-awareness movement to apprise the people about the possible dangers of US-led attack on Iraq.

This was announced by the IJT leaders at a press conference. The campaign is part of the protest series of IJT students. The main purpose of the movement is to press the government to vote against any American resolution in the UN Security Council seeking the world body’s support for an attack on Iraq. The movement will start from March 14 and continue till March 20.

The IJT provincial chief, Nasrullah Sabir, flanked by general-secretary Imran Shafiq and information secretary Abdul Wadood, told reporters that as part of the movement, the Jamiat workers would visit educational institutions and mobilize students to hold protest rallies against the aggressive designs of the US.

Apart from educational institutions, the IJT activists will also visit different cities in this connection. During the protests, US flags and effigies of US President Bush would be burnt, Mr Sabir said.

Apart from this, a big protest rally would be taken out on March 18 from Gordon College which would march to Committee Chowk. The president of All Pakistan Talaba Mahaz Mohammad Naveed Anwar will lead the protest rally.
