ISLAMABAD, March 13: The Central Development Working Party has approved a scheme submitted by the Higher Education Commission regarding 40 PhD scholarships in China.

The scheme was approved at a CDWP meeting held recently at Planning Commission.

The scheme consists of one-year language course and three-year PhD programme in advanced science and technology fields for 40 scholars from the engineering universities.

The scheme would build the capacity of universities and industries and facilitate assimilation, absorption and transfer of important technologies.

It would provide opportunity to scientists and engineers for training in research work at advanced research laboratories and reputed universities of China, and interact with foreign scientists.

The scheme would also encourage international cooperation in science and technology through harnessing training opportunities offered by China, as the tuition fees there were minimum or not charged.
