HYDERABAD, March 13: The Sindh relief commissioner has announced that in continuation of a notification issued on July 17, 2002, following areas of the province have been declared calamity-affected areas for 2002-2003:

Entire Tharparkar and Dadu districts.

Shah Bundar, Jati, Keti Bundar, Mirpur Sakro, Ghora Bari, Kharo Chhan, and Mirpur Bathoro talukas of Thatta district.

Umerkot, Pithoro, Kunri, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Digri and Samaro talukas of Mirpurkhas district.

Badin, Tando Bago, Shaheed Fazil Rahu and Talhar talukas of Badin district.

Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki, Khan Garh and Daharki talukas of Ghotki district.

Khipro, Sanghar, Sinjhoro, Jam Nawaz Ali and Shahdadpur talukas of Sanghar district.

Shahdadkot, Warah, Qambar Ali Khan and Dokri talukas of Larkana district.

Jacobabad, Thul and Ghari Khairo talukas of Jacobabad district.

Nara, Faiz Gunj and Mir Wah talukas of Khairpur district.

Bhiria taluka of Naushahro Feroze district.

Shikarpur and Gari Yasin talukas of Shikarpur district.

Moidan, Jhangkand, Kand, Khar, Shorkand, Wankand, Lusar, Bhad, Terari, Soondi, Jhunjhar, Meherajabad, Gadap, Huderwah, Langheji, Karmatiani, Shoring, Bolhari, Shahi Chib, Kathore, Chuhar, Khaeji, Abdar, Beil, Amilano, Ghanghar, Pipri, Dhabeji, Katariro, Bakran, Konkar, Kharkharo, Tore, Thado and Khakhar dehs of the defunct Malir district of Karachi.

Meanwhile, the Board of Revenue, Sindh, has extended the date for recovery of land tax, water charges, drainage cess and local cess of 2002 Kharif season in calamity-affected areas up to April 30.

RELIEF PACKAGE: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hailed the prime minister for announcing a relief package for traders and industrialists.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, The HCCI president, Abdur Razzak Memon, said the announcement by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would encourage investors and strengthen the economy.

He said efforts should be made to announce a tax-free budget.

SLA: The publication committee of the Sindhi Language Authority, at a meeting held here on Wednesday, approved the publication of “Jatki Boli” (language of Jats), Sindhi translation of Mohammadan law, Sindhi language teaching manual, Sindhi-English and Sindhi- Sindhi dictionaries for children and other books.

Dr Nabi Bux Khan Baloch presided over the meeting.
