Case against five for timber theft

SAHIWAL, March 11: Noor Shah police have registered timber theft case against five people and arrested a forest guard and a contractor.

Forest guard Nadim Tariq and contractor Meharban Ali allegedly sold timber worth Rs790,200 from Chaks 63/4-R and 77/5-R and Shahmand Baloch village through PPP leaders Ali Khan Baloch, Naseer Ahmad Baloch and Zia Farid Baloch. They allegedly destroyed forest department record to conceal their crime.

Nadim and Meharban have been arrested.

Nadim has also been suspended from the service while an inquiry was in process against two forest officers involved in the scam.

BODY FOUND: The body of a teenaged boy was recovered on Tuesday by police from an orchard three days after his disappearance.

Atif, 13, disappeared when he went for shopping along with his father Zakir of Muhammadpur.

Police claimed that the body was strangled to death by unidentified people after sodomy.
