First day honours for Army, Wapda

ISLAMABAD, March 10: Army and Wapda dominated the first day’s proceedings of the 9th SAF Games Ranking Athletic Meet at the Jinnah Stadium on Monday.

Mumtaz (110 metres hurdles), Ahmed Bilal (High Jump), Atta Miran (1500 metre), Ashraf Ali (Shot Put) and Allah Ditta of Army (30000 steeplechase) won their respective disciplines while Wapda’s Imran Mirza (Discuss Throw), Asif Gulzar (Long Jump) and Azhar Samdani (100 metres) claimed first positions.

110m hurdles (men): Mumtaz (Army) 14.21, Rashid (Railways) 14.25, Muhammad Shah (Wapda) 14.27.

High Jump (men): Ahmed Bilal (Army) 1.99m, Muhammad Anwar (Army) 1.96m, Muhammad RIaz (Army) 1.96m

Discus Throw (men) Imran Mirza (Wapda) 51.76m, Ehteshamul Haq (Wapda) 50.90m, Asim Aleem (Police) 49.32

1500m (men): Atta Miran (Army) 3:49.12, Zulfiqar Ali (Army) 3:55.80, Tariq (Army) 4:33.63.

1500m (women): Sumaira Zahoor (POF) 5:06.19, Shazia Hidyat (Wapda) 5:15.32
