A chamber meeting on Monday said some influential people were trying to get state land around railway station on lease to build commercial plazas.

It said the government was spending millions of rupees on the beautification of railway station and developing ‘green belts’ in front of the building on the GT Road.

It demanded that the federal government and the railways minister should ban the construction of commercial plazas to preserve the beauty of railway station.
