PTCL clarifies

OKARA, March 8: The PTCL clarified on Saturday a news item published in Dawn on Friday under the headline ‘PTCL breaches its own rules.’

A Central Telecommunication Region spokesman said the distance of Mauza Lasharian from Okara was 29.8 kilometres. He added that the calls rates here were being charged according to the PTCL tariff, i.e. 34.60 seconds for a unit call for a distance more than 25 kilometres from the exchange concerned.

The consumers of Khakhar Kothi, Bakshu, Islampura, Akhtarabad, Renala Khurd, chaks 16/GD, 24/GD and 26/2R, Gogera and Bambala, were charged a unit call for 5 minutes because they were within a radius of 25 kilometres.
