LAHORE: MMA meets on Iraq issue

Published March 9, 2003

LAHORE, March 8: Heads of six-party religious alliance, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), are meeting in Islamabad on Sunday (today) to decide further measures for forcing the government to side with Iraq against impending US attack on the Muslim state.

The MMA had already staged a big rally in Karachi on March 3 and is holding another in Rawalpindi on Sunday (today) in a bid to step up pressure on the government in this regard.

The summit meeting will also discuss elections to Senate chairman, though the alliance officials admit that there was no chance for their candidate as the PML-Q and allies had enough votes to get their nominee elected to the office.
