KARACHI, March 7: There is a need to conduct a survey which can help ascertain the causes of professional begging and adopt methods to remove this menace from our society, speakers at a seminar on “professional begging” observed.

The seminar was organized in Sector 9, Baldia Town on Friday.

Nazim, Baldia Town Orangzaib Khan, in his speech, said the increasing number of beggars was creating different problems for the citizens and jeopardizing the civic activities, and thus the city government was striving to eliminate the menace.

Qutubuddin Aziz, speaking on the occasion, expressed his satisfaction with the role of the public in the campaign against beggars.

EDO Community Development Iqbal Ahmad Zubairi and Maulana Akber Dars also spoke. The seminar was attended by councillors, Nazims, representatives of social organizations, officers of the community development department and the general public.—PPI
