Village power disconnected

Published August 4, 2009

I BELONG to the Jani Buriro village, Kotdiji taluka, Khairpur district. It falls in the jurisdiction of Khairpur subdivision and its feeder is EKTD.

In June the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) recovered about Rs75,000 for chronic default. Instead of being motivated for recovering more money regarding defaults, Hesco (Khairpur) has disconnected the electricity of my village.

One of my fellow villagers, Ghulam Raza Buriro, is suffering from blood cancer and faces a very tough time in the absence of electricity.

I keep contacting the executive engineer and the chief engineer but they just don't seem to understand that the issue of recovering dues can never be resolved by disconnecting electricity.

I should like to make it clear to all the relevant people that if anything happens to Ghulam Raza Buriro, a murder case will be lodged against the various officials concerned.

I hope Hesco will restore electricity as soon as possible.
