KARACHI, March 6: The new system of ‘road user charges’ is likely to be introduced from July 1 if a clearance is given by the federal government, it was officially stated here on Wednesday.

All motor-vehicle owners have been advised to pay their vehicle tax for the period from Jan 1 to June 30 by March 15 without penalty.

Besides the Motor Registration Wing, Civic Centre, the tax may be paid at the following National Bank branches:

1) SITE (2) M.A Jinnah Road (3) PIDC (4) Awami Markaz (5) Nazimabad (6) Defence and (7) Kehkashan, Clifton.

The director for Excise and Taxation, Javed Memon, said on Wednesday that the department would launch a drive soon to check the defaulters of motor-vehicle tax and to recover the dues on the spot.—APP
