SAHIWAL, March 5: The Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested an ASI, a headconstable and two constables of a Lahore anti-car lifting squad red-handed while accepting illegal gratification here on Wednesday.
Accompanied by a judicial magistrate, the ACE also recovered from them an amount of Rs50,000.
ASI Muhammad Shafi, headconstable Muhammad Azam and constables Muhammad Yaseen and Nasir Aziz came to showroom proprietor Munir Ahmed. They extorted Rs43,000 from him after threatening him to involve in car-lifting cases. They also asked him to arrange Rs50,000 more which they would collect during their next visit. Munir reported the matter to the ACE which organized a raid under the supervision of judicial magistrate Rana Nasrullah in Chak 88/6-R (Ratti Tibbi) and arrested them red-handed.
A case has been registered against the arrested raiding party.
KILLS SISTER: A man slaughtered his sister on Tuesday night for eloping with her lover the second time in a nearby Chak Rasha Shani.
The husband of Bashiran (22) divorced her after she eloped with her lover. A few days ago, she again eloped with her lover but was brought back by her brother Mushtaq. On Tuesday night, Mushtaq fled after slaughtering his sister.
Police have registered a case.
COUNTERS: The National Bank will open separate counters for government bills and payment of salaries to the government staff soon after the recruitment of 800 cashiers.
