BRUSSELS, March 4: Unemployment in the 12-nation euro zone rose to 8.6 per cent of the work-force in January from a rate of 8.5 per cent the previous month, seasonally adjusted data published on Tuesday by Eurostat showed.

In the 15-member European Union, unemployment also rose slightly in January, edging up to 7.9 per cent from 7.8 per cent in December, the European Union’s statistics branch said.
