SWABI, March 3: The government of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has restored posts of Qaris in government schools. They would now be appointed to those posts which are vacant and those which have been recently created according to prescribed rules.

This was stated by the NWFP Education Minister, Maulana Fazali Ali, while addressing a function at a religious institution in Dobian.

The minister said that the appointment of Qaris for other posts in the education department stood intact and that the previous government’s policy no longer applied.

He slated the previous government for ignoring the appointment of the Qaris in the government schools.

However, he said, the MMA, after assuming power in the NWFP, decided to restore the posts.

The students would now, he said, get an opportunity to receive religious education along with modern education.
