Soccer probables shortlisted

KARACHI, March 1: Twenty-five probables were shortlisted on Saturday for the forthcoming Asian Cup pre-qualifying round in Singapore from March 21 to 25.

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) had invited 33 players for training camp at Steel Mills to finalize the squad.

Pakistan are placed in group `E’ with Macau and hosts Singapore. One team from will advance to the qualifying round. Pakistan will take on Macau on March 21 in their opening game. Asian Cup is schedule to held in China in 2004.

The camp probables would play few practice games against PIA, KPT, KESC, HBL prior to their departure for Singapore on March 19.

Goalkeepers: Jaffar Khan, Abdul Ghani, Aamir Ali Qureshi

Defenders: Tanvir Ahmed, Abrarullah, Sajjad Haider, Haroon Yousuf, Arif Masih, Shahid Nadeem Bajwa, Saeed, Abdul Hameed, Adeel Ahmed

Midfielders: Saeed Nasir Ismail, Zakir Hussain, Sajjad Hussain, Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Talib Hussain, Majid Ali, Sarfraz Rasool

Forwards: Mohammad Essa, Qadeer Ahmed, Shahid, Zahid Niaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Aurangzeb.—APP
