Last ball win for KESC

KARACHI, Nov 28: A hurricane knock of 58 runs in only 31 deliveries, studded with four scorching boundaries and two sixes by Shahid Afridi, enabled the holders KESC CC register a narrow two-wicket victory over Malir Gymkhana in the 16th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket festival played at the Karachi Gymkhana ground Wednesday.

Batting first, Malir Gymkhana although served by a useful knock of 85, by Younis Khan in only 58 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and three sixes, were dismissed for 184 in 22.5 overs.

Right-arm leg-spinner Shahid Afridi (3-33) and off-spinner Tahir Khan (2-38), bowled well.

KESC in reply scraped through to a two-wicket triumph when Jaffar Qureshi got the winning runs for the holders off the very last ball of the match.

Shahid Afridi led the way for his team with 58 and was ably supported by Mansoor Khan (37), Jaffar Qureshi (24 n.o.) and Mushtaq Afridi and Shahid Dawood with 20 runs apiece.

Mohammad Hussain (3-21), Mohammad Hasnain (3-44) and Rashid Hanif (2-41), shared the wickets.
