PESHAWAR, Feb 28: The Peshawar University chapter of the Islami Jamiat Talaba, observed black day and took out a protest demonstration on Friday to express solidarity with the people of Iraq.

The procession, which started from the Agricultural University and  culminated at the Student Teacher Centre, Peshawar University, was  addressed by the IJT’s leaders, who criticised the US president for  resorting to aggression against the Iraqis.

The students wore black arm-bands and raised slogans against the US and in favour of Iraq. The student also boycotted the classes to express their anger over the possible US-led attack on Iraq. The students of the Engineering University and Islamia College, also took part in the demonstration.

Speaking to the participants, the IJT’s campus Nazim, Abidur Rehman, alleged that the US was pursuing anti-Muslim policies, and after its activities in Afghanistan, the US was now targeting Iraq, whereas the Pakistani rulers had become silent spectators.
