MULTAN, Nov 28: Seminars will be arranged here to create awareness among people about communicable diseases.

This was stated by Health EDO Dr Afzal Mahmood on Wednesday at a meeting arranged by different NGOs.

He said better health service could be provided to the masses if people collaborated with the government.

Dr Mahmood said mother health care would be given extra importance. There was a need to educate women about health care, he added.

He said a health festival would be arranged here on the eve of World Health Day in April next.

TEACHERS: The teachers’ leaders should urge their colleagues to perform their duties honestly.

This was stated by special education secretary Rai Ijaz Ali in a meeting with a delegation of SES Teachers’ Association on Wednesday.

He said it was a matter of concern that 18 per cent of the students dropped out before matriculation.

Mr Ali said teachers could play a vital role in increasing the literacy rate in the country.

He said teachers would be promoted on the basis of their qualification and the pass percentage of their students.

Rao Shamim, DPI of secondary schools, Punjab, who was also present on the occasion, said promotion cases of school teachers would be handed over to departmental promotion committee by the end of the current year. — Nouman
