GUJRANWALA, Nov 28: The District Bar Association has condemned the massacre of non-Afghan prisoners of war and the Taliban by the Northern Alliance and other opposition groups and demanded that world powers and the Security Council should help end this carnage.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of bar president Naveed Anwar Naveed, speakers criticized the Pakistan government for not playing a due role in stopping the massacre of non-Afghans and the Taliban.

The meeting urged the Ummat to get united against the US and its allies.

Speakers included Waqar Husain Butt, Maqbool Ahmad Qureshi, Sardar Muhammad Arif, Mahmood Anwar Butt, Hafiz Anjum Saeed, Chaudhry Abdul Aziz Sundho, Munawwar Husain, Dawood Ahmad, Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad and Umer Draz Cheema.

INJURED: Highwaymen on Wednesday shot at and injured a bus crew and took away cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees on the National Highway.

Reports reaching here revealed that a bus (LHO-255) was on its way to Rawalpindi from Lahore when the bandits, boarded from Gujranwala, held up the passengers near Kot Shahan village.

They snatched cash from the crew and opened firing on them on resistance. Driver Sikandar Hayat and conductor Khadim Husain sustained injuries. They were taken to the local Civil Hospital in critical condition.

Cantonment police have registered a case.
