LAHORE, Feb 26: Khawaja M. Atif ‘s fancied bay Fair Boy put up a grand performance when he outpaced his six rivals to win the feature event of the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races on Wednesday.

He defeated bay filly Morning Bird by three-and-a-half lengths. Bay gelding Thank You Boss posed a token challenge to the winner before bowing out to third place about five lengths further behind while Blue Lead completed the frame.

Trained by Latif Butt the winner was ridden confidently by jockey Khurrum Sheikh in this fifth race in racing order.

Only three favourites obliged in a card of six events, all contested over the sprinting distance of 1200 metres. The favourites to win were — Al Trui Princess, Key Guy Princess and Fair Boy.

The biggest upset of the afternoon was caused by bay horse Fly To The Stars in the fourth race. The lucky punters who backed him on the win tote for rupees 100 ticket got a handsome dividend of rupees 14940 and rupees 1170 for a place bet.

The dual forecast and trio pool remained unsolved and their amount was carried forward in the next race betting pools.
