HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) will launch a protest movement against construction of the greater Thal canal after Muharram.

Speaking at a rally, staged outside the press club here on Tuesday, JSQM chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi also announced that a demonstration would be held in Karachi if construction of the canal project was not stopped.

Urging the chief minister and MPAs to reject the Thal canal on the floor of the Sindh Assembly, he warned the assembly building and houses of MPAs would be besieged if they did not oppose the project.

A large number of JSQM activists took out a procession from the party’s media centre in Qasimabad and after marching on the Wadhu Wah Road, Thandi Sarak and the Miran Mohammad Shah Road, they gathered outside the press club and staged a rally.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans.
