KARACHI, Feb 25: The City District Government Karachi has established 37 new dispensaries while more such facilities will be opened by the end of the fiscal year.
This was stated by the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, while inaugurating two newly-set up dispensaries at Shafiq Colony and Aisha Manzil in Gulberg Town.
He said that after education, the city government was spending the highest amount on health sector (29 per cent), so as to provide better health-care facilities to the masses. He said improvement had been brought in hospital services.
One doctor would remain on duty at each of the two newly-opened dispensaries while other staff and medicines would also be provided, he added. He assured the people that like in the past, these dispensaries would not face shut down but would be upgraded to hospital levels.
“It is a good news for the residents of Shafiq Colony, as for the first time after 1960 they have got water supply, their sewerage problems have been solved and now they are being provided with health -care facilities,” he remarked.
Mr Khan said that in the past corrupt people kept coming in the government and people’s problems remained unresolved. The credit for work being done for them now goes to the people who elected honest leadership in the local bodies elections, he added.
The Nazim said that after his election, he had announced that special attention would be paid on kutchi abadis and today development works are being carried out there, which would continue.
The Nazim of Gulberg Town, Farooq Naimatullah, said that more development works would be initiated if financial assistance came from the government.—APP
