KARACHI Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday announced a 15-man squad for the Twenty20 and one-day international series against South Africa but did not name the captain.

Middle-order batsman Mishbah-ul-Haq will make his return to the side after being dropped following the World Twenty20 in West Indies earlier this year.

Shahid Afridi, who has been Pakistan's limited-overs captain since January, is part of the squad but it is uncertain whether he will lead the side.

The official PCB statement announcing the squad said the captain for the limited-overs series “will be announced later.”

Meanwhile, wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal will miss the series as he is still recovering from surgery on his finger, which he injured during the third one-day international against England. Zulqarnain Haider, who replaced Akmal for the second Test against England, has been named as the sole wicket-keeper in the squad.

Medium pace bowler Tanveer Ahmad is also part of the squad while opener Imran Farhat replaces Shahzaib Hasan for the series.

Newly-appointed manager Intikhab Alam will replace the now retired Yawar Saeed.

Former Test player Ijaz Ahmed, who had been part of the coaching staff for the England tour, has been omitted from the list of officials for the UAE based series.

Shahid Aslam takes over from Shafqat Rana as the assistant manager.

ODI and Twenty20 squad Imran Farhat, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah ul Haq, Umar Akmal, Asad Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Shahid Afridi, Abdur Razzaq, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Shoaib Akhtar, Tanveer Ahmad, Zulqarnain Haider (wicket-keeper)
